Under investor immigration scheme, there two options “investor” and “investor plus”. Applicants are required to meet health and character requirements under this program. Besides these the investor has to spend a minimum length of time in New Zealand. The minimum investment required are shown below, under various categories.

1. Investor

Minimum Investment NZ$ 1.5 million (approx US$ 1.1 million) has to be invested in New Zealand for 4 yrs. This program requires 3 yrs of business experience and age of person must be 65 yrs and below.

2. Investor Plus

Minimum Investment NZ$ 10 million (approx US$ 8 million) has to be invested in New Zealand for 3 yrs. No age or business or english language proficiency required under this program.

Criteria for approval

You'll need to provide verifiable evidence that you meet the following criteria:

If your residence is approved in principle

With either category you’ll have 12 months to transfer your investment funds in an acceptable investment in New Zealand. You’ll need to provide verifiable documents to show that the funds you transfer to New Zealand came from the funds and/or assets that you nominate.You can apply to have this time frame extended and you can also apply for a work visa so you can travel to New Zealand to look into investment opportunities.

Temporary Retirement Category​

Besides these the investor has to spend a minimum length of time in New Zealand. The minimum investment required are shown below, under various categories.

The temporary retirement category provides you with a two year New Zealand visitor visa which you can travel in and out of New Zealand on as many times as you wish. In order to be eligible for the temporary retirement category you must be a minimum for 66 years of age and hold comprehensive travel and health insurance throughout your stay in New Zealand. You must be able to nominate funds equivalent to NZD$750,000 and be able to invest them over a period of two years. You will require an additional NZD$500,000 for maintenance funds and have an annual income of NZD$60,000 per annum. At the end of your two-year visa, it is possible to remain in New Zealand by applying for another visa.​
